November 2023

November started with a mini break to see the family and friends up in Norfolk I love having some time out and catching up with everyone!

Once back in Essex it was super exciting to crack on with my online BHS Stage 4 training.  This course runs for 6 weeks and has BHS approval for 6 CPD points.  I enjoy meeting new ‘students’ and preparing the weekly sessions, challenge’s my (and PJ’s) technological skills!  There is quite a lot of online training going on with getting up to speed with the Pony Club Tests that have upgraded their syllabus’ to incorporate more on the ‘Five Freedoms’.  Not as scary as some people first thought, just different terminology for things that – hopefully – we are doing already.

The weather is always a bit tricky this time of the year but I’m still managing to get work with my clients to keep them ticking over through the winter and preparing for the season next year.  Its good to have a goal but sometimes the way to get there has to be a be a tad flexible 😂 No show jumping clinic this month, just couldn’t find a day that fitted in but have got a date in for December, the 21st, I have already started to take bookings…fingers crossed the weather behaves itself!!

As Doc and Mouse had had a quiet end of the season, they didn’t need a long holiday so both had a couple of weeks off and are back hacking and schooling.  I hope that next year will be busier with less abandonments and no virus’s lurking for any of us!!
Meanwhile we have got some training booked for the new year with the ‘Bridging the Gap’ trainers which was very useful last time when Franki took Doc.

In this quiet time I thought the lorry ought to go and have the exhaust sorted out at TR Auto’s, which they have done, but discovered that it also needs some welding doing so it is spending a bit more time in ‘ICU’ than I thought! This means we are without transport at the moment which puts a bit of a hold on going out anywhere, just means more time to train at home!

So that was November, starting to think about Christmas and once that’s done – and New Year, then its struggle through January and February on to March and the season kicking off (not meant to use use the word kicking but didn’t think nudging off sounded quite the same!) at Poplar Park the first weekend in March…crazy!!

See you next month 😊
