About me

About Me

I am a BHS Accredited Professional Level Five Performance Coach in Complete Horsemanship – or a BHSI in old money! I enjoy working with riders at all levels but particularly competition riders and career students.  I have competed in British Eventing, British Showjumping and British Dressage so have a broad knowledge across the three disciplines.

I work closely with my daughter Franki, who holds her Pony Club A test, in producing young horses into eventing which I thoroughly enjoy and find most rewarding.
Franki and Lissavorra Doc ( AKA Doc)  had a fantastic year last year 2022 culminating with 2 runs at Intermediate level, clear cross country both times!  2023 has been a slow start with so many events cancelled and unable to get runs in the ones that were going…hopefully things will settle down and we can get going again.
Excitingly Franki has been accepted onto the Wesko Foundation Young Eventers programme so we are looking forward to getting involved with all that.

We are into our second year at the yard in Arkesden enjoying all the fabulous hacking and an on site xc course!  Franki has had liveries coming for a short term boot camp livery, ‘holiday’ stays and longer term training livery.  If you think we can help you then please do get in touch.

Pony Club / Riding Club

I am chief instructor of the Essex Hunt North branch of the Pony Club, winner of the Naf Club of the Year 2020, and train the teams that represent the branch at National level.  We have had wins with our Novice Eventing team at the Nationals following on from a second place previously and numerous other placings for teams and individuals! I also train the older members who take their PC tests which are recognised world wide! I am an AH test examiner so have a good working knowledge of what is required at all levels.   I love Pony Club and we have one of the largest branches in the area of over 100 members, so lots of events always going on.  I run regular show jumping training over the winter and both show jumping and cross country when the weather is better!  I am available for clinics on any of the disciplines for other branches or run a course for members to train for their tests, if this something your branch, or Riding Club, may be interested in then do send me a message.

I’ve enjoyed my online training and this does open up training over all area’s.

British Horse Society

I also work closely with our local Riding School, Brook Cottage Farm, not only preparing the staff and students for their BHS assessments but also training riders, who don’t have their own horses, on the school’s schoolmasters.  I enjoy working with riders who have an aim such as the BHS assessments and now, as the system has changed, I feel that these qualifications are on the up!

Over the Winter I have run online Zoom Courses for Pony Club AH testers and for BHS Stage 3’ers.  These have been incredibly popular with attendee’s from all over the British Isles which has been great fun!  These will restart later in the year.

I spent five years as an Equine lecturer at The Agricultural College in Milton, assisting in the running of Level 2 and 3 courses.  I learnt a lot during my time there and this really helps me now to assist riders get the most from their horses and how they care for them.
